Introduction to the Renaissance

Welcome!  I am excited to make art with you this year in fourth grade.  We will be learning about the art of the Renaissance.  We will draw, sculpt and paint projects as we connect with master works and master artists of this time in history.  I would like for you to begin by watching this introductory video.  At the end of the video, you will be asked to do two things for the week:

1.  Make a list of words to describe the art of the Middle Ages and a list to describe Renaissance Art.  In our small groups live and online, we will discuss these lists.

2.  Draw a face and a figure (person).  Renaissance artists studied the human body to learn how to draw realistic figures.  We will be practicing figure drawing and proportions of the body.  When we finish the quarter, I want you to look back on these drawings to see how much you have learned.  Don't worry if you are not sure about how it looks.  Just do your best!  Your drawings should be uploaded to Artsonia by Friday!
