It is time for Spring!  The 2nd and 3rd graders will begin their spring projects with a study of Monet's garden in Giverny.  They have heard about his life in a read-aloud, and have created a collage with their thoughts on Impressionism.  They created these beautiful bridge pictures with watercolors and soft pastels.  I love to see that they are able to apply what they know about perspective by making the lillies seem smaller closer to the horizon.  They used horizontal brushstrokes for the water, vertical for the trees and dabs of paint for the background foliage.  I have put them up all over the art room to remind us spring is on the way!
