Color-by-Number Color Wheels

Middle school students have been working on a project I call Make your own Color-by-Number.  They drew a line drawing of any colorful composition they could imagine, and they traced and erased all of their pencil lines.  Using only primary colors and white tempera paint, they mixed and used in their painting every color from the color wheel.  Many students went beyond the required 12 colors and tried mixing brown, black and gray.
